A prayer for the Catholic Church Dear Rubyfruit Readers, I am writing with a very strange request: please pray for the Catholic Church's upcoming selection of a pope. I know this is an odd thing to ask, given the fact that most of you aren't Catholic and many aren't even Christian, but I know that you all are aware of the incredibly powerful role the Catholic Church plays in world politics. When the current pope dies, his successor will have an enormous impact on decisions that will be made for decades to come. This isn't a decision that we can influence with our checkbooks or even by getting out the vote. The only possible way we can help to have our voices heard is through prayer. I know the cynic in us says that this will be a purely political decision, and to some extent this is true. But there is also room for the movement of the spirit. So I am asking that all of you pray. Whether you are Catholic, Christian, pagan, what the heck, even atheist (come on you've got nothing to lose - nobody's listening anyway), do what you can to move the energy of this decision away from one that is purely political to one that is spirit-led.
